Folkens Rede

Brief

Design

We were challenged to build a summer pavilion (inspired by the annual Serpentine Pavillion contest) for the people to enjoy in the King’s Garden, built entirely with local Nordic wood and glass and resting in the shadow of Rosenborg Castle.

My design focuses on movement, flexibility, and light, and seeks to balance freedom with hygge (the unique Danish concept of coziness and fulfillment). In English, the name translates to “The People’s Nest”.

Park visitors can climb on any of the large crossbeams - arranged in a spiral - to find a spot that feels right for them on that particular day.

Brief

Design

Design an extension to a historical, listed building housing a children's theater in Copenhagen's Meatpacking District which provides a space for performance and community engagement.

My building is called Tre Verdener (or Three Worlds in English), and contains three distinct areas within the space: a black box theater, an amphitheater level on top for public use, concerts, or community events, and a liminal space linking them together and creating a sense of peace and exploration. My main reference, Loyly Sauna in Helsinki, is shown below.
